Written by Steven Day on 9/21/2005

Our Moon Phase calendar provides an up-to-date reading of the current status of the Moon, including:

Type: The moon has different stages, depending on its rotation around our planet, as well as its relative position to the Sun. They are New, Waxing Crescent, Waxing Gibbous, Full, Waning Gibbous, and Waning Crescent.
Visible: What percentage of the moon's surface is visible during the current phase.
Age:
How far into the cycle the moon is from New.
Distance:
The current distance the moon is from our planet.
Apogee:
The furthest the moon has been from the earth during its last cycle.
Perigee:
The closest the moon has been to the earth since its last cycle.

All Times are in UTC.

The moon phases have a big significance in Witchcraft. The full moon and the new moon are celebrated as Esbats, times of worship to the God and Goddess.

The new moon is a time to work your magick for new beginnings, whether it be to better yourself, start a new project, or anything that requires a fresh start. Take this time to ask the God and the Goddess for guidance in your new ventures.

The full moon is a time for completion and fulfillment. It is also the time in which the Goddess is honored. Reflect back on what you've done, take note to see that your projections have been fulfilled, and thank the Lord and the Lady for their help.
